Sapwood Blade

An Energy Recharge sword that creates a collectible Elemental Mastery leaf after listed reactions.

Released Aug 24, 2022

Sapwood Blade is a 4-star sword with Energy Recharge as its secondary stat. Triggering one of its listed reactions creates a Leaf of Consciousness. The wielder must pick up the leaf to receive its Elemental Mastery bonus, even when the reaction was triggered off-field.

Understand Sapwood Blade

Useful when…

  • Consider it when the wielder can trigger Burning, Quicken, Aggravate, Spread, Bloom, Lunar-Bloom, Hyperbloom, or Burgeon.
  • Keep in mind that the leaf must be picked up within its ten-second window to grant Elemental Mastery.

Reaction and pickup conditions

After triggering Burning, Quicken, Aggravate, Spread, Bloom, Lunar-Bloom, Hyperbloom, or Burgeon, a Leaf of Consciousness appears around the character for up to ten seconds. Picking it up grants Elemental Mastery for 12 seconds: 60 at R1 and 120 at R5. Only one leaf can be generated every 20 seconds, and its effect cannot stack. The wielder can trigger the reaction while off-field, but must still pick up the leaf to obtain the Elemental Mastery bonus; off-field triggering does not grant the bonus automatically.

Weapon profile and investment

Sapwood Blade has 43.7349 base ATK and Energy Recharge as its secondary stat. Ascension progresses through six stages. Refinement consumes another Sapwood Blade and Mora; examples show 1,000 Mora from R1 to R2 and 8,000 Mora from R4 to R5. Refinement increases the Elemental Mastery granted by the leaf but does not change its 12-second duration, 20-second generation limit, or non-stacking rule.

Other sword effects

Amenoma Kageuchi restores Energy after a Burst based on seeds gained from Skill casts. Aquila Favonia provides Physical DMG Bonus and an ATK increase, with an additional effect triggered by taking damage. Absolution's damage bonus is tied to increasing a Bond of Life. These weapons have different effects; Sapwood Blade's Elemental Mastery bonus requires a listed reaction and picking up the resulting leaf.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • The Elemental Mastery bonus requires picking up the leaf within ten seconds.
  • Only one leaf can be generated every 20 seconds, and its effect cannot stack.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Assuming a reaction grants Elemental Mastery automatically; the leaf must be picked up, even after an off-field trigger.
  • Expecting multiple leaves or stacked leaf effects inside the 20-second generation limit.
