Understand Snow-Tombed Starsilver
Useful when…
- Supporting Physical damage with the secondary stat.
- Using Normal or Charged hits to trigger periodic AoE icicles, especially against Cryo-affected opponents.
What does the icicle do?
Normal and Charged Attack hits have a 60% chance at R1 to form an Everfrost Icicle above the target. It drops for AoE damage equal to 80% of ATK, or 200% of ATK if the opponent is affected by Cryo. It can occur once every 10 seconds. At R5 the chance becomes 100%, and the ratios become 140% and 360%; the 10-second interval remains.
Why does Cryo application matter?
The weapon's Physical DMG Bonus supports Physical hits, while the icicle has a clear conditional increase against Cryo-affected opponents. The effect is triggered by Normal or Charged hits, so a wielder using those attacks can attempt it; it is not a bonus to all attack types. Ultimate Overlord's Mega Magic Sword instead offers ATK and Energy Recharge, with an additional ATK amount linked to helping Melusines. A Teaspoon of Transcendence grants ATK and boosts named reactions following Charged Attack hits. A Thousand Blazing Suns activates ATK and CRIT DMG bonuses through a Skill or Burst. These alternatives have distinct stats and conditions.
What investment improves it?
Ascension advances the weapon through six stages. Refinement uses another copy to raise the icicle chance and both damage ratios. It does not reduce the 10-second interval. The strongest refinement improvement to the Cryo-conditioned ratio matters only when opponents are Cryo-affected, so judge copies against whether that condition fits your use.
What is the main limitation?
The icicle is chance-based below R5 and cannot trigger more often than once every 10 seconds. Without Cryo on the opponent, use the lower damage ratio; the larger ratio is not unconditional. The weapon's Physical DMG Bonus should also not be confused with a general bonus to all damage.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The icicle is limited to once every 10 seconds and is chance-based below R5.
- The stronger icicle ratio requires the opponent to be affected by Cryo.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Using the Cryo-affected damage ratio when the opponent is not affected by Cryo.
- Expecting refinement to shorten the 10-second trigger interval.
