Understand Solar Pearl
Useful when…
- Supporting a damage build that alternates Normal Attacks and Skill or Burst hits.
- Using CRIT Rate while triggering the matching damage bonus with the other attack type.
How do the two bonuses interact?
At R1, a Normal Attack hit increases Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst damage by 20% for six seconds. Conversely, a Skill or Burst hit increases Normal Attack damage by 20% for six seconds. At R5, each bonus is 40%; the six-second duration stays the same. Each half is triggered by a hit of the named type, so simply casting without hitting is not stated to activate it.
What attack pattern gets value?
The passive links two damage categories in opposite directions: Normal hits prepare the Skill/Burst bonus, while Skill/Burst hits prepare the Normal Attack bonus. It is best suited to patterns that actually land both types of hits and can use their limited duration. A Thousand Floating Dreams instead distributes Elemental Mastery or elemental damage bonuses according to party members' Elemental Types and also grants nearby party members Elemental Mastery. Angelos' Heptades requires the wielder to create a Shield to grant its party damage bonus and energy restoration. Apprentice's Notes has no secondary stat or listed passive. These examples differ substantially in triggers and support value.
What upgrades are most relevant?
Ascension advances the catalyst through six stages. Refinement consumes a duplicate and raises both 20% bonuses to 40% at R5, while the six-second duration stays fixed. Ascension improves the weapon's level; refinement is directly useful when the wielder regularly triggers both halves of its passive.
What should players avoid?
Do not treat either bonus as always active: each requires the corresponding attack hit to enable the opposite category's bonus. The passive does not describe a general damage increase for every attack type, and its timed bonuses last six seconds.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The passive needs hits from the other attack category to activate each bonus.
- Both bonuses last six seconds, regardless of refinement.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming casting a Skill or Burst without a hit activates the Normal Attack bonus.
- Treating the paired effects as a general damage bonus rather than category-specific effects.
