Understand Talking Stick
Useful when…
- Use when the wielder can be affected by Pyro to activate the ATK bonus.
- Consider it for an elemental damage build that can trigger the listed non-Pyro element bonus.
Two separate conditions
At R1, being affected by Pyro increases ATK by 16% for 15 seconds; the effect can trigger once every 12 seconds. Being affected by Hydro, Cryo, Electro, or Dendro separately increases all Elemental DMG Bonus by 12% for 15 seconds, also with a 12-second trigger limit. These are conditions on the wielder, not a generic reward for dealing that element’s damage. Refinement raises the two values.
When it fits
The CRIT Rate secondary stat supports a damage build, but the weapon’s bonuses depend on the wielder being affected by particular elements. The ATK bonus requires Pyro status; the elemental damage bonus requires one of the four named non-Pyro elements. Ultimate Overlord’s Mega Magic Sword offers ATK and Energy Recharge, with an additional ATK amount based on Merusea Village Melusines helped, rather than these element-status triggers.
Investment and alternatives
Ascension costs materials and Mora. Refinement consumes another Talking Stick and Mora to improve both bonuses. A Teaspoon of Transcendence has a CRIT DMG secondary stat and bonuses tied to Charged Attack hits and Stellar-Conduct or Stellar Swirl reaction damage; A Thousand Blazing Suns instead activates after a Skill or Burst and gains duration from Elemental Normal or Charged Attacks. Those conditions differ from Talking Stick’s element-status requirements.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Both damage bonuses require the wielder to be affected by a specified element.
- The effects can trigger only once every 12 seconds, despite their 15-second durations.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming dealing Pyro damage alone activates the ATK bonus; the wielder must be affected by Pyro.
- Treating the elemental damage bonus as applying after every elemental hit without its status condition.
