Understand The Black Sword
Useful when…
- An on-field sword attacker focused on Normal and Charged Attacks.
- A wielder who benefits from CRIT Rate and occasional healing triggered by critical Normal or Charged hits.
Which attacks does it improve?
At R1, Normal and Charged Attack damage increases by 20%, rising to 40% at R5. Those attacks can also trigger healing when they score a CRIT: the healing is 60% of ATK at R1, rising to 100% at R5, with a 5-second trigger interval. The healing does not trigger from Skill or Burst CRIT hits under the stated effect.
When does the stat and healing fit?
CRIT Rate supports critical hits, and the healing condition specifically requires a Normal or Charged Attack CRIT. The weapon is therefore most coherent for a character who uses those attacks often enough to benefit from both its damage bonus and periodic recovery. Its passive does not describe a shield or continuous healing.
What are the investment priorities?
Ascension improves the weapon through the listed stages and materials. Refinement raises the Normal and Charged Attack bonus from 20% to 40% and the healing coefficient from 60% to 100% of ATK. Refining consumes a duplicate each time, so consider whether the attack bonus and healing justify using copies instead of retaining another sword.
How does it differ from other swords?
Absolution has CRIT DMG and a damage effect conditioned on increasing Bond of Life. Amenoma Kageuchi provides ATK and Energy restoration after using a Burst, based on Skill-generated seeds. Aquila Favonia offers ATK and Physical DMG Bonus, with healing and nearby damage when the wielder takes damage. These effects answer different stat and play needs; they are not interchangeable without regard to the wielder's attacks and conditions.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The damage bonus only covers Normal and Charged Attacks.
- Healing needs a critical Normal or Charged hit and is limited to once every 5 seconds.
- Refinement requires duplicate copies.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting Skill or Burst damage to receive the weapon's Normal and Charged Attack bonus.
- Expecting every critical hit to heal; only Normal and Charged Attack CRITs qualify, with a 5-second interval.
