Understand The Dockhand's Assistant
Useful when…
- A sword wielder who heals or is healed and benefits from Elemental Mastery and Energy.
- An off-field character who can accumulate symbols from healing before returning to cast a Skill or Burst.
How are symbols collected and spent?
When the wielder is healed or heals another character, they gain one Stoic's Symbol. Each lasts 30 seconds and up to three can be held. Symbols can be gained while the wielder is off-field. Using the wielder's Elemental Skill or Burst consumes all symbols and grants Roused for 10 seconds. The effect can trigger once every 15 seconds.
What do the symbols provide?
Each consumed symbol grants Elemental Mastery for 10 seconds through Roused: 40 at R1, rising to 80 at R5. Two seconds after the effect occurs, the wielder also restores 2 Energy per symbol at R1 or 4 per symbol at R5. With three symbols, that is three times the per-symbol values. The Energy is restored to the wielder, not described as a party-wide effect.
What makes it practical for support?
The HP secondary stat and healing-dependent symbol generation point toward a wielder who already encounters healing in play. Because symbols can accumulate off-field, the wielder need not be active when each healing event occurs; however, the symbols expire after 30 seconds and must be spent through that character's Skill or Burst. The effect therefore rewards coordinating healing with the wielder's next cast rather than simply equipping the weapon.
How should it be invested?
Ascension uses the listed weapon materials and Mora. Refinement raises the Elemental Mastery and Energy restored for each symbol; it does not change the three-symbol cap, 30-second symbol duration, 10-second Roused duration, or 15-second trigger interval in the listed effect. Each refinement uses another copy, so consider whether the per-symbol gain merits sacrificing one.
How do sword alternatives differ?
Absolution favors CRIT DMG and a damage effect tied to increasing Bond of Life. Amenoma Kageuchi gives ATK and restores Energy based on Skill-generated seeds consumed after a Burst. Aquila Favonia has ATK and Physical DMG Bonus, plus an effect triggered when its wielder takes damage. These have different triggers and benefits from the healing-to-symbol cycle here.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Symbols require healing and expire after 30 seconds.
- The wielder must cast a Skill or Burst to consume symbols and obtain their benefits.
- Refinement requires sacrificing duplicate copies.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting symbols to activate Roused automatically; the wielder must use a Skill or Burst.
- Waiting too long to spend symbols, which last only 30 seconds.
