Understand The Widsith
Useful when…
- A catalyst damage dealer who can make use of temporary ATK, Elemental DMG, or Elemental Mastery.
- A character whose damage window can align with the 10-second buff when it triggers.
What are the three possible songs?
When the character takes the field, one random theme song lasts 10 seconds; the trigger can occur once every 30 seconds. Recitative increases ATK by 60% at R1, Aria increases all Elemental DMG by 48%, and Interlude increases Elemental Mastery by 240. The wielder receives one outcome, not all three at once. R5 raises these effects to 120% ATK, 96% Elemental DMG, or 480 Elemental Mastery.
How should a player think about the random effect?
CRIT DMG is the weapon's secondary stat and is separate from the temporary song. The random outcome makes the weapon less predictable than a passive with one fixed effect. A character whose damage can use more than one of ATK, Elemental DMG, or Elemental Mastery may make use of different outcomes, but the effect remains temporary and cannot trigger again for 30 seconds.
What investment does it take?
Ascension uses the listed Mora and materials. Refinement increases all three possible buff magnitudes, while the 10-second duration and 30-second trigger interval remain as listed. Each refinement requires a duplicate copy, so weigh the stronger random buffs against keeping another catalyst available.
How do other catalysts differ?
A Thousand Floating Dreams grants Elemental Mastery or Elemental DMG bonuses based on other party members' Elemental Types and also gives nearby party members Elemental Mastery. Angelos' Heptades requires the wielder to create a shield for its party damage and Energy effects, with an additional Hexerei condition for an off-field party member. Apprentice's Notes has no secondary stat or listed passive. These have different requirements and do not share The Widsith's random field-entry song.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The song is random, so the wielder cannot select the most useful buff.
- The buff lasts 10 seconds and has a 30-second trigger interval.
- Refinement consumes duplicate copies.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming all three song effects apply together; only one random song is granted.
- Expecting the buff to trigger on every field entry; it can trigger once every 30 seconds.
