Understand Tidal Shadow
Useful when…
- Equip it on an ATK-scaling claymore damage dealer when healing can activate the passive reliably.
- Consider it for a character who leaves the field after being healed, since the effect can trigger off-field.
What activates its effect?
At refinement 1, healing the wielder grants 24% ATK for 8 seconds. The passive can activate while the wielder is off-field, so healing does not require them to be active. Refinements raise the bonus to 48% at refinement 5; the trigger and duration stay the same.
When is it a practical fit?
Its ATK secondary stat and healing-triggered ATK bonus point toward damage built around ATK. The passive is conditional: without healing, it provides no described bonus. A healer or another reliable source of healing therefore makes the weapon’s effect easier to use consistently. The input does not specify attack-type restrictions, so do not assume it only boosts a particular attack mode.
How much should you invest?
Ascension raises the weapon through six stages; the listed example costs include Mora and weapon materials at stages 0→1, 3→4, and 5→6. Refinement consumes another Tidal Shadow copy and Mora. Since refinement increases the passive’s ATK bonus by 6 percentage points per rank, refine when you have spare copies and value that conditional increase; prioritize leveling the weapon if you need its base stats and can afford the ascension materials.
How does it compare with other claymores?
“Ultimate Overlord’s Mega Magic Sword” offers ATK and Energy Recharge, with an additional ATK bonus based on Melusines helped. Tidal Shadow instead depends on healing and has an ATK secondary stat. A Teaspoon of Transcendence gives ATK and a Charged Attack-triggered bonus to Stellar-Conduct and Stellar Swirl reaction damage; A Thousand Blazing Suns requires using an Elemental Skill or Burst for its timed ATK and CRIT DMG effect. These alternatives have different conditions, so compare the passive trigger and secondary stat with the wielder’s actual use.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The ATK passive requires healing and lasts only 8 seconds.
- Its conditional ATK bonus improves with refinement, which uses duplicate copies.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not count on the passive when the wielder is not being healed.
- Do not assume an off-field wielder cannot trigger the effect; the passive explicitly allows off-field activation.
