Tome of the Eternal Flow

Catalyst for Charged Attack damage with an HP bonus and Energy return tied to HP changes. Consider it for a wielder whose current HP can change often enough to build and maintain its stacks.

Released Sep 27, 2023

Tome of the Eternal Flow rewards changes in the wielder's current HP. Each increase or decrease can build a short-lived Charged Attack DMG stack, and reaching or refreshing the third stack restores Energy on a separate cooldown.

Understand Tome of the Eternal Flow

Useful when…

  • Boost a Catalyst wielder who deals damage through Charged Attacks.
  • Use the Energy restoration when the wielder can regularly reach or refresh three stacks through HP changes.

HP changes create Charged Attack stacks

The 5-star Catalyst has 44.3358 base ATK and CRIT DMG as its secondary stat. Refinement 1 adds 16% HP. Whenever the wielder's current HP increases or decreases, Charged Attack DMG rises by 14% for 4 seconds, up to three stacks; the trigger can occur once every 0.3 seconds. At three stacks, or when the third stack's duration refreshes, it restores 8 Energy. That restoration can occur once every 12 seconds.

Use it with the right damage pattern

The damage bonus is specifically for Charged Attacks, and requires HP to change. A setup that keeps the wielder's HP static will not build stacks merely by attacking. A Thousand Floating Dreams emphasizes Elemental Mastery sharing and party-element-dependent buffs, while Angelos' Heptades grants its party damage and Energy effects after its wielder creates a Shield. Those Catalysts serve different conditions and are not interchangeable by weapon type alone.

Refinement and investment

Refinement 5 raises the HP bonus to 32%, the Charged Attack bonus to 30% per stack, and the Energy return to 12. Refining requires another copy at each step, so the investment is most relevant when both the HP-change trigger and Charged Attack bonus are central to the wielder's use. Ascension is a separate track with Mora and weapon materials listed for example stages.

Stack and Energy limits

Stacks last only 4 seconds and can be triggered no faster than once per 0.3 seconds. Reaching three stacks does not mean Energy returns on every subsequent HP change: the Energy effect has its own 12-second trigger interval. Do not count the Charged Attack bonus toward other attack modes, since the effect names Charged Attack DMG specifically.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • Its damage bonus requires HP to change and applies only to Charged Attacks.
  • Energy restoration requires the third stack condition and has a 12-second trigger interval.
  • Refinement consumes additional copies of a 5-star Catalyst.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Expecting the HP or Charged Attack effects to build when current HP does not change.
  • Treating the 8-to-12 Energy return as available on every HP change.
