Understand Wolf-Fang
Useful when…
- Boosting a sword wielder whose damage comes substantially from Elemental Skills and Bursts.
- Adding CRIT Rate to a build that can trigger the Skill and Burst hit effects repeatedly.
What does it do?
At refinement 1, Wolf-Fang increases Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst damage by 16%. When a Skill hits, it grants 2% CRIT Rate for 10 seconds; Burst hits build a separate CRIT Rate effect with the same duration and value. Each effect can stack up to four times and triggers at most once every 0.1 seconds. Higher refinements raise the damage bonus to 32% and each stack to 4% at refinement 5.
When is it useful?
Its CRIT Rate secondary stat and Skill/Burst damage bonus suit a damage build that uses both ability types. The two CRIT Rate effects are tracked separately, so hitting with both a Skill and Burst can build each effect independently. Repeated hits can reach stacks quickly, but only while the appropriate ability is actually hitting opponents.
How should it be improved?
Ascension raises the weapon through six stages; the supplied examples show material and Mora costs at stages 0→1, 3→4, and 5→6. Refinement consumes another Wolf-Fang copy and Mora. Refining improves the Skill/Burst damage bonus and the CRIT Rate gained per stack, so prioritize it when you have spare copies and the wielder regularly benefits from those effects; a copy also has value as a separate weapon.
What are the limits?
The weapon’s damage bonus applies to Skills and Bursts, not normal attacks as such. The CRIT Rate stacks require hits from the matching ability type and expire after 10 seconds; their separate tracking does not make either effect permanent. Absolution has CRIT DMG and a damage bonus triggered by increasing Bond of Life, while Amenoma Kageuchi instead grants Energy after Skills and Burst use; those conditions make them different options, not automatic replacements.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Its strongest bonuses are concentrated on Skill and Burst damage rather than all attacks.
- CRIT Rate stacks depend on ability hits and have limited duration.
- Refinement consumes duplicate copies that could equip another sword user.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the CRIT Rate stacks are one shared effect; Skill and Burst stacks have separate durations and limits.
- Expecting the Skill/Burst damage bonus to improve normal attacks.
- Refining away a spare copy before deciding whether another sword user could use it.
