Wriothesley GUIDE
Understand Wriothesley
Useful when…
- Sustained Cryo damage from rapid Normal Attacks.
- Using his Skill's enhanced attacks when HP is above 50%.
- Recovering from low HP with the enhanced Charged Attack granted below 60% HP.
Attack pattern and Skill conditions
Forceful Fists of Frost performs up to five rapid Cryo Normal Attacks. Icefang Rush is a short forward dash that starts Chilling Penalty for 10 seconds at talent level 1. While he remains on field, it increases interruption resistance; when his HP is above 50%, his Normal Attacks are enhanced and deal increased damage, and each enhanced hit consumes 4.5% of his Max HP, once per 0.1 seconds. His Normal Attack combo count does not reset for a short time after the Skill or sprinting, helping him resume the sequence. The Charged Attack costs 50 Stamina and hits an area; it is not the attack enhanced by Chilling Penalty.
HP recovery and Burst
When Wriothesley's HP is below 60%, There Shall Be a Plea for Justice grants one Gracious Rebuke, at most once every five seconds. His next Charged Attack becomes Rebuke: Vaulting Fist: it costs no Stamina, deals 50% more damage, and restores HP equal to 30% of his Max HP after it hits. This gives the Skill's HP cost a recovery mechanic, but the passive has its own threshold and cooldown. Darkgold Wolfbite deals a Cryo hit followed by five instances of AoE Cryo damage in front of him; after Icicle Impact, an Ousia-aligned Cryo Surging Blade descends at an opponent's position. The Burst has a 60 Energy cost and a 15-second cooldown at the listed values.
Building and leveling
For a Normal Attack focused setup, the Normal Attack track is the most direct talent investment because it covers his repeated Repelling Fists. The Skill track is also relevant: it enables Chilling Penalty and its enhanced Normal Attacks. Raise the Burst track according to how much you rely on its five hits and follow-up Ousia strike. Ascension uses Shivada Jade, Subdetection Units, gears, and the listed Tourbillon Device at later stages. His crafting passive gives a 10% chance to receive double Weapon Ascension Materials when crafting them.
Practical cautions
Chilling Penalty ends if Wriothesley leaves the field, so swapping out interrupts the enhanced-attack window. Its HP cost applies only to enhanced Normal Attack hits while above 50%; the low-HP Charged Attack passive is a separate effect, triggered below 60%. Do not count on that Charged Attack to activate at exactly 60% or while above it. His Skill adds interruption resistance, but the provided effect does not say it prevents interruption entirely.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Skill-enhanced Normal Attacks spend HP, so their use depends on managing his health.
- The enhanced Charged Attack requires dropping below 60% HP and can only be granted once every five seconds.
- Leaving the field cancels Chilling Penalty.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Swapping out during Chilling Penalty and expecting the effect to persist.
- Confusing the above-50% Skill enhancement with the below-60% Charged Attack trigger.
- Assuming interruption resistance means immunity to interruption.
