Understand Xingqiu
Useful when…
- Apply Hydro damage while another active character uses Normal Attacks.
- Add damage reduction and interruption resistance through orbiting Rain Swords.
- Restore HP when Rain Swords break or expire.
What do the Skill and Burst do?
Guhua Sword: Fatal Rainscreen strikes twice for Hydro damage and creates the maximum number of Rain Swords, initially three. They orbit the active character, reduce damage when that character takes damage, and increase resistance to interruption. The Skill lasts 15 seconds and has a 21-second cooldown. Twenty percent of Xingqiu’s Hydro DMG Bonus converts to additional damage reduction for the Rain Swords, capped at 24%. Casting the Skill applies Wet to the character. Guhua Sword: Raincutter creates Rain Swords and keeps their number at the maximum for 15 seconds. While it is active, the active character’s Normal Attacks trigger consecutive Hydro sword rain attacks. Its cooldown is 20 seconds and its Energy cost is 80. Hydropathic restores the current character’s HP based on 6% of Xingqiu’s Max HP when a Rain Sword breaks or expires.
How should you use him?
Use the Skill and Burst, then have the active character use Normal Attacks to trigger the Burst’s sword rain. Its stated trigger is Normal Attacks; charged attacks alone are not specified as a trigger. Xingqiu’s own sword string has up to five Normal Attacks, while his two-hit Charged Attack costs 20 Stamina. His Normal Attack track is more relevant if you use those attacks directly; his off-field effects come from the Skill and Burst.
What to consider before investing
Xingqiu has separate Normal Attack, Skill, Burst, and ascension tracks. The supplied progression data lists selected costs for each track but does not show level-by-level effect changes or establish a universal talent priority. For the role described here, Skill and Burst are the tracks that contain Rain Sword creation and the Normal Attack-triggered sword rain; choose investment according to how much you use those mechanics. Blades Amidst Raindrops grants 20% Hydro DMG Bonus, which contributes to the Skill’s additional damage reduction subject to its 24% cap. His crafting passive gives a 25% chance to refund a portion of materials when crafting Character Talent Materials.
Limits and common errors
The Burst costs 80 Energy. Rain Swords reduce damage rather than preventing it, and healing occurs when a sword breaks or expires rather than immediately on casting. The additional damage reduction converted from Hydro DMG Bonus has a 24% cap. The Skill also applies Wet to the character, while the Burst trigger described here depends on Normal Attacks.
How do other Hydro characters compare?
Kamisato Ayato and Furina are also Hydro sword characters, while Candace is a Hydro polearm character. Element and weapon information alone does not establish that they provide Xingqiu’s Normal Attack-triggered sword rain or Rain Sword effects, so they should not be treated as direct substitutes on those facts alone.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The Burst provides repeated Hydro attacks and keeps Rain Swords at their maximum number, but costs 80 Energy.
- Hydro DMG Bonus contributes to Rain Sword damage reduction, subject to a 24% cap.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting the Burst to trigger from Charged Attacks alone; its stated trigger is Normal Attacks.
- Overlooking the Burst’s 80-Energy cost when planning its use.
- Treating Rain Swords as a shield that prevents damage or expecting immediate healing on cast.
- Assuming Hydro DMG Bonus increases Rain Sword damage reduction without limit; the additional reduction is capped at 24%.
