Understand Amber
Useful when…
- Raise DEF for a Preservation wearer.
- Use the additional DEF effect when the wearer’s current HP is below 50%.
How does the HP condition work?
At S1, the Light Cone increases DEF by 16%; at S5, it increases DEF by 32%. The wearer receives an additional increase of the same size only while their current HP percentage is lower than 50%. At exactly 50%, that condition is not met.
How can you invest in it?
Promotion advances the Light Cone through stages 0–6. Superimposition advances it from S1 to S5, with each listed step consuming one S1 Amber copy. Superimposition raises the DEF values; its additional increase still requires the wearer’s HP to be below the threshold.
How do the listed alternatives differ?
Concert for Two also increases DEF and adds wearer damage for each on-field character with a Shield. Day One of My New Life increases DEF and grants all allies All-Type RES after entering battle; effects of the same type cannot stack. Defense restores 18%–30% of its wearer’s Max HP when the wearer uses an Ultimate. These effects differ from Amber’s below-half-HP DEF condition.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The additional DEF requires the wearer’s current HP to be below 50%.
- It has no stated team-wide benefit or healing effect.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the additional DEF activates at exactly 50% HP.
- Treating Amber as a healing effect or a team-wide defensive buff.
