Understand Defense
Useful when…
- Restore the wearer’s HP when they use an Ultimate.
- Use when the wearer can benefit from Ultimate-triggered self-healing.
How much HP does it restore?
The wearer restores 18% of their Max HP at S1 and 30% at S5 when they unleash their Ultimate. The effect description does not specify a team heal or a condition based on current HP.
How can you invest in it?
Promotion advances Defense through stages 0–6. Superimposition advances from S1 to S5, with the listed steps consuming one S1 Defense copy each. Superimposition increases the self-healing percentage.
How do the listed Preservation effects compare?
Amber increases DEF and gives an additional DEF increase when the wearer is below 50% HP. Concert for Two increases DEF and adds wearer damage for each on-field character with a Shield. Day One of My New Life increases DEF and grants all allies All-Type RES after battle begins; effects of the same type cannot stack. These effects differ from Defense’s Ultimate-triggered self-heal.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The healing requires the wearer to unleash an Ultimate.
- The listed restoration is for the wearer, not the full team.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the restoration as a team heal.
- Assuming the heal is triggered by any attack rather than the wearer’s Ultimate.
