Understand Dance at Sunset
Useful when…
- A Destruction wearer whose damage includes follow-up attacks.
- A build that can make practical use of increased chance to be attacked.
What activates Firedance?
The Light Cone greatly increases the wearer’s chance of getting attacked and gives 36% CRIT DMG at S1. After the wearer uses their Ultimate, they gain one Firedance stack for 2 turns, up to 2 stacks. Each stack increases the wearer’s follow-up attack damage by 36%. At S5, CRIT DMG rises to 60% and each stack increases follow-up damage by 60%; the stack limit and duration remain unchanged.
What should guide its use?
Firedance depends on the wearer using their Ultimate, and the follow-up bonus is strongest when follow-up attacks occur while stacks remain. The increased chance of being attacked is a separate part of the passive; the input does not specify its numeric amount. A Secret Vow offers general damage and an additional bonus against enemies whose current HP percentage is at least the wearer’s. A Trail of Bygone Blood instead gives CRIT Rate and increases Skill and Ultimate damage. A Thankless Coronation gives CRIT DMG and Ultimate-triggered ATK and Energy effects with a maximum-Energy condition. Those alternatives do not share Dance at Sunset’s increased chance of being attacked and Firedance trigger.
How do investments affect it?
Promotion advances the Light Cone through six stages. Superimposition consumes one S1 copy per step, increasing CRIT DMG and follow-up damage per Firedance stack. Consider promotion for level progression. Extra copies improve the passive’s damage values, so weigh that copy cost against whether the wearer uses their Ultimate and follow-up attacks within the 2-turn window.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The increased chance of being attacked can draw enemy attacks toward the wearer.
- Firedance requires the wearer’s Ultimate and lasts 2 turns.
- The main damage bonus applies to follow-up attacks, not all damage.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Counting more than two Firedance stacks; the effect caps at two.
- Treating Firedance as a general damage bonus instead of a follow-up attack bonus.
