Understand Moment of Victory
Useful when…
- A Preservation character intended to draw attacks and withstand them with DEF.
- A wearer whose abilities or debuffs benefit from Effect Hit Rate.
How do DEF and targeting interact?
At S1, the wearer gains 24% DEF and 24% Effect Hit Rate. The Light Cone also increases the chance enemies attack the wearer. When the wearer is attacked, their DEF increases by another 24% until the end of their turn. At S5, both DEF bonuses and Effect Hit Rate reach 40%; the duration of the attack-triggered DEF remains until that turn ends.
When might another Preservation option fit better?
Its increased attack chance is useful when the wearer is meant to take hits, but that condition can expose a character who is not prepared to absorb them. Amber provides DEF and gains more DEF below 50% HP. Concert for Two adds wearer damage for each on-field character with a Shield. Day One of My New Life increases DEF and grants all allies All-Type RES after entering battle. These options trade the aggro and Effect Hit Rate package for different defensive or damage conditions.
How should you invest?
Promotion advances the Light Cone through six stages. Superimposition improves both the DEF amounts and Effect Hit Rate, and consumes a duplicate copy at each shown step. Promotion is the direct route to base stats; refine if the wearer makes active use of the hit-triggered DEF and Effect Hit Rate.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Drawing more attacks can help a durable wearer but is a liability if the wearer cannot withstand them.
- The extra DEF after being attacked ends at the end of the wearer's turn.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not overlook the increased chance of being attacked when equipping it on a fragile wearer.
- Do not count the attack-triggered DEF bonus as permanent; it ends with the wearer's turn.
