Understand Under the Blue Sky
Useful when…
- A Destruction damage dealer who values an ATK increase.
- A wearer likely to defeat enemies and benefit from temporary CRIT Rate.
What does it provide?
At S1, the wearer gains 16% ATK. When the wearer defeats an enemy, their CRIT Rate increases by 12% for three turns. At S5, the ATK bonus is 32% and the defeat-triggered CRIT Rate increase is 24%, still for three turns. The CRIT Rate effect requires the wearer to defeat an enemy; merely damaging or helping defeat it is not stated as sufficient.
When is the defeat trigger practical?
The ATK increase is the consistent part. The temporary CRIT Rate benefit is more useful when the wearer can land the defeat and then continue attacking during its three-turn duration. Against a single durable target where no enemy is defeated, the supplied effect gives no CRIT Rate increase. The trigger is personal to the wearer according to the wording.
How should it be improved?
Promotion advances the Light Cone through stage 6. Superimposition increases both ATK and the defeat-triggered CRIT Rate, while the duration remains three turns. Each step consumes one S1 sacrifice copy. Raise the level for a wearer who will use it; consider duplicate copies if the wearer often secures defeats and benefits from the stronger temporary CRIT Rate.
How do other Destruction options differ?
A Secret Vow offers general damage and a second bonus when the target’s HP percentage is at least the wearer’s. A Trail of Bygone Blood gives CRIT Rate and increases Skill and Ultimate damage. A Thankless Coronation grants CRIT DMG and has effects tied to using an Ultimate, including an additional ATK increase when the wearer’s Max Energy meets its stated threshold. These effects have their own conditions and attack coverage; none should be assumed to provide Under the Blue Sky’s defeat-triggered CRIT Rate.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The CRIT Rate increase requires the wearer to defeat an enemy.
- Its duration is three turns and does not increase with superimposition.
- Against a target with no intervening defeats, the conditional CRIT Rate benefit does not trigger.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming an ally’s defeat triggers the wearer’s CRIT Rate bonus.
- Counting the temporary CRIT Rate increase as always active.
- Overlooking that the effect lasts three turns rather than the whole battle.
