Whereabouts Should Dreams Rest

Destruction Light Cone for Break Effect and Break damage amplification

Introduced in v2.3

Whereabouts Should Dreams Rest increases Break Effect and, after the wearer deals Break damage, makes the target take more Break damage from that wearer while lowering its SPD. Consider it for a Destruction wearer who reliably breaks enemy weakness; its vulnerability is specifically tied to Break damage.

Understand Whereabouts Should Dreams Rest

Useful when…

  • A Break-focused Destruction wearer who can deal Break damage.
  • A build that values lowering the SPD of targets after a Break.

What happens after a Break?

At S1, the wearer gains 60% Break Effect. When the wearer deals Break damage to an enemy, that target receives Routed for 2 turns. Routed targets take 24% more Break damage from this wearer and have their SPD lowered by 20%. The target’s Break damage vulnerability is attributed to the wearer, and effects of the same type cannot stack. At S5, the listed values become 100% Break Effect and 40% increased Break damage from the wearer; the SPD reduction remains 20%.

When is this a sensible choice?

Its conditional payoff begins when the wearer actually deals Break damage, so a build that rarely breaks enemies will not regularly apply Routed. Once active, the effect helps the wearer’s subsequent Break damage against that target and lowers its SPD. A Secret Vow instead gives general damage bonuses, with an additional bonus against enemies whose current HP percentage is at least the wearer’s; A Trail of Bygone Blood gives CRIT Rate and increases Skill and Ultimate damage. These alternatives support different damage patterns and do not duplicate this Break-specific effect.

What does investment change?

Promotion advances the Light Cone through six stages. Superimposition consumes one S1 copy at each step and increases Break Effect and the amount of Break damage the wearer deals to Routed targets. Consider promotion for level progression; spend extra copies on superimposition when the wearer’s Break damage reliably triggers Routed and benefits from the stronger values.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • Routed requires the wearer to deal Break damage first.
  • The increased Break damage is specifically from the wearer.
  • Effects of the same type cannot stack.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Reading Routed as a general damage-taken increase; it specifies Break damage from the wearer.
  • Expecting the SPD reduction or Break damage effect to apply before the wearer deals Break damage.
