Understand Forge of the Kalpagni Lantern
Useful when…
- Consider it for a wearer whose attacks can repeatedly hit Fire-weak enemies and whose damage plan uses Break Effect.
- Use it when the SPD bonus is useful even if Fire Weakness is not consistently present.
What does the two-piece effect do?
The two-piece bonus increases the wearer's SPD by 6%. When the wearer hits an enemy with Fire Weakness, the wearer's Break Effect increases by 40% for 1 turn. The trigger is hitting a target that has Fire Weakness; the wearer does not need to deal Fire damage according to the stated condition.
When is it useful?
It is most relevant when the wearer can trigger the one-turn Break Effect bonus during the fight and can make practical use of that stat. Against enemies without Fire Weakness, or during periods when the wearer cannot hit a Fire-weak target, only the 6% SPD bonus is assured.
How does it compare with other planar sets?
City of Converging Stars ties its effects to Follow-Up ATKs and enemy defeats, while Sigonia builds CRIT DMG from defeated enemies. Arcadia of Woven Dreams instead scales the wearer's and memosprite's damage according to ally count. These bonuses serve different mechanics and do not duplicate Kalpagni's Fire-weakness Break Effect trigger.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The 40% Break Effect bonus depends on hitting an enemy with Fire Weakness and lasts only 1 turn.
- Its nonconditional contribution is SPD, so the set's value depends on whether the wearer benefits from speed.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the Break Effect bonus works against every enemy; the target must have Fire Weakness.
- Treating the one-turn Break Effect increase as permanent rather than checking whether the wearer hits a Fire-weak target.
