Understand Genius of Brilliant Stars
Useful when…
- Use two pieces for the Quantum DMG bonus on a Quantum damage wearer.
- Use four pieces when the wearer benefits from DEF ignore against targets they damage, especially targets with Quantum Weakness.
How much DEF does it ignore?
Two pieces increase Quantum DMG by 10%. With four pieces, when the wearer deals damage to a target, they ignore 10% DEF. If that enemy has Quantum Weakness, the wearer additionally ignores 10% DEF. Thus the stated extra portion depends on the target's weakness; it is not unconditional against every enemy.
What does the condition mean in practice?
The general four-piece DEF ignore applies when the wearer deals damage to the target. The additional amount is conditional on Quantum Weakness. Consider the expected target types and the wearer's damage element before investing in a full set; the Quantum DMG two-piece bonus is separately useful for Quantum damage.
How do other DEF-ignoring sets differ?
Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge requires Break Effect thresholds for its DEF ignore, with a separate higher threshold for Super Break DMG. Prisoner in Deep Confinement grants DEF ignore based on how many DoTs affect the enemy, up to three. Both have specific build or enemy conditions. Dreamlit Actor instead provides ally Elation and conditional CRIT DMG through targeted Skill or Ultimate use. These effects should be compared by actual damage mode and trigger access.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The additional DEF ignore requires the target to have Quantum Weakness.
- The two-piece damage bonus is Quantum-specific.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming both portions of DEF ignore always apply regardless of enemy weakness.
- Treating the Break Effect thresholds on Iron Cavalry as equivalent to Genius's target-weakness condition.
