Understand Prisoner in Deep Confinement
Useful when…
- Supporting damage against enemies afflicted with DoTs.
- Using the two-piece ATK bonus when the full DoT-dependent effect is not consistently available.
How does the four-piece effect scale?
For each DoT affecting the enemy target, the wearer ignores 6% of that target's DEF when dealing damage to it. The effect counts at most 3 DoTs, for up to 18% DEF ignored from this set. The condition is based on DoTs on the target, not simply on whether the wearer can apply one.
When does the set fit?
It is a practical choice for damage dealers whose targets are commonly afflicted by multiple DoTs, since the four-piece effect scales with that count. Two pieces provide 12% ATK without that condition. Genius of Brilliant Stars also grants DEF ignore, but its four-piece condition is dealing damage to the target, with additional DEF ignore when that target has Quantum Weakness; it does not use a DoT count.
What to check in combat
The maximum of 3 DoTs caps this set's contribution at 18% DEF ignored. If a target has fewer DoTs, the effect is correspondingly smaller. Do not count unrelated debuffs as DoTs: the set's condition names DoTs specifically.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The four-piece benefit depends on the number of DoTs on each target.
- Its DEF ignore is capped at 3 DoTs.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Counting ordinary debuffs as DoTs toward the four-piece effect.
- Assuming the maximum DEF ignore applies when fewer than 3 DoTs affect the target.
