Understand The Ashblazing Grand Duke
Useful when…
- Increasing a wearer's Follow-Up ATK damage.
- Building ATK stacks from multi-hit Follow-Up ATKs, while planning around the reset on the next Follow-Up ATK.
How do its effects work?
Two pieces increase damage dealt by Follow-Up ATKs by 20%. With four pieces, using a Follow-Up ATK increases the wearer's ATK by 6% for each time that attack deals damage. The effect can stack up to 8 times and lasts 3 turns; the next time the wearer uses a Follow-Up ATK, the effect is removed.
Who benefits from four pieces?
The set is most relevant when a wearer's damage includes Follow-Up ATKs: the two-piece effect directly buffs that attack type, and each damage instance from a Follow-Up ATK can add an ATK stack. A Follow-Up ATK with several damage instances can therefore build stacks more quickly, subject to the 8-stack cap. By comparison, As Navigator Isee Sees It buffs Skill and Ultimate damage through stacks gained on combat entry or Skill use; that is a different attack profile, not an automatic substitute.
What limits the stacks?
Do not treat the ATK stacks as permanent: they last 3 turns and are removed the next time the wearer uses a Follow-Up ATK. The set information does not promise a fixed stack count from each attack; stack gain depends on how many times that Follow-Up ATK deals damage.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The two-piece bonus applies specifically to Follow-Up ATK damage.
- The four-piece ATK stacks are removed at the next Follow-Up ATK and expire after 3 turns.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming every Follow-Up ATK adds the same number of stacks regardless of its damage instances.
- Ignoring that the next Follow-Up ATK removes the accumulated ATK effect.
