Understand Infinity
Useful when…
- Firing ordinary arrows without consuming them
- Reducing the need to carry stacks of ordinary arrows
Effect and ammunition condition
Infinity is a single-level bow enchantment. The inventory must contain at least one ordinary arrow; shots do not consume that arrow. Fired arrows cannot be retrieved in Survival. Tipped and spectral arrows are still consumed normally, so Infinity does not provide unlimited use of those ammunition types.
Equipment and repair choice
Infinity applies to bows. In Survival it is mutually exclusive with Mending, so choosing Infinity means the bow cannot also use Mending through ordinary anvil application. Weigh ammunition convenience against that repair-enchantment option based on how the bow will be used.
Anvil cost and limits
The listed anvil multipliers are 4 for a book and 8 for an item, reflecting higher cost scaling than several other enchantments in this set. They do not change Infinity’s ammunition effect. The supplied special cases for command- or Creative-applied Infinity on crossbows and tridents are outside its ordinary Survival bow use.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Saves ordinary arrows but does not save tipped or spectral arrows.
- Cannot be combined with Mending on a bow in Survival and has comparatively high listed anvil multipliers.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting Infinity to work without an ordinary arrow in the inventory.
- Using tipped or spectral arrows expecting them not to be consumed.
- Assuming fired arrows can be recovered in Survival.
- Attempting to pair it with Mending in Survival.
