Understand Blaze
Useful when…
- Increase a shotgun’s listed Damage and Heat bonuses with one mod.
- Use a lower rank when the paired bonuses are useful but maximum rank’s capacity cost or fusion cost is not justified.
What does Blaze add?
Blaze is a standard shotgun mod with Madurai polarity, base drain 6, and a maximum rank of 3. At rank 3 it grants +60% Damage and +60% Heat. These are mod bonuses, not a calculation of the shotgun’s final damage. Rank 0 grants +15% to each; rank 2 grants +45% to each. The two bonuses therefore rise together as it is fused.
How should I rank and slot it?
Rank it according to available capacity and the value of both bonuses together. Example costs are 30 Endo and 1,449 Credits from rank 0 to 1, 60 Endo and 2,898 Credits from rank 1 to 2, and 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits from rank 2 to 3. The full-rank bonuses are higher, but the final listed step costs more than the earlier ones; keeping it below maximum preserves capacity and resources while retaining both stats.
When might another shotgun mod fit better?
Incendiary Coat grants +90% Heat at its listed maximum rank 5, focusing on Heat rather than pairing it with Blaze’s Damage bonus. Scattering Inferno grants +60% Heat and +60% Status Chance at maximum rank 3, trading Blaze’s Damage bonus for Status Chance. These are different stat packages, not automatic substitutes: choose based on which listed bonuses the build needs. Flawed Incendiary Coat is a Flawed variant with +40% Heat, so it is not the same standard mod as Incendiary Coat.
Where is it listed, and what are common misreads?
The supplied drop listing names Nightmare Mode Rewards, Rotation A, with a 1.01% chance. Treat that as a listed source rather than a guarantee of current availability. Do not read +60% Damage and +60% Heat as a single +120% damage figure: they are separate mod stats. Also avoid assuming Blaze provides a status bonus; the supplied description lists Damage and Heat only.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Blaze combines Damage and Heat bonuses, while the comparison mods specialize in Heat or pair Heat with Status Chance.
- The rank 2 to 3 fusion step costs 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits for the increase from +45% to +60% on both stats.
- Maximum rank has base drain 6; a lower rank can preserve capacity.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the two +60% bonuses as a single +120% final damage increase.
- Assuming Blaze also increases Status Chance.
- Ignoring the capacity cost when choosing to rank it up.
