Blazing Steel

Archmelee mod that adds Heat damage.

Released Oct 24, 2014

Blazing Steel adds Heat to Archmelee attacks, reaching +120% at rank 5. It is a straightforward elemental bonus for Archmelee setups that want Heat; it does not itself grant Status Chance. Its five-rank progression allows incremental investment, with the later ranks costing more Endo and Credits.

Blazing Steel GUIDE

Understand Blazing Steel

Useful when…

  • Add Heat damage to an Archmelee build.
  • Use the lower ranks to gain part of the Heat bonus while preserving capacity and fusion resources.

What does Blazing Steel do?

This standard Archmelee mod grants +120% Heat at rank 5. Rank 0 grants +20%, and rank 3 grants +80%. The values describe the mod’s Heat bonus; they do not determine the final damage of an Archmelee weapon. The mod has Madurai polarity and base drain 4.

How should I invest ranks?

Maximum rank is 5. Example fusion costs are 20 Endo and 966 Credits from rank 0 to 1, 80 Endo and 3,864 Credits from rank 2 to 3, and 320 Endo and 15,456 Credits from rank 4 to 5. The rank 5 bonus is the largest listed Heat value, but the last step costs more than earlier examples; stop at a lower rank if the extra Heat does not justify that investment or the capacity used.

How does it compare with other Archmelee options?

Searing Steel pairs +60% Heat with +60% Status Chance at its listed maximum rank 3, so it offers a status bonus while providing less listed Heat than Blazing Steel at maximum. Astral Slash instead lists +90% Slash. Astral Autopsy has a utility effect: fatal strikes perform a Codex Scan, but it requires an equipped Codex Scanner and an available charge. These options provide distinct effects; the descriptions do not establish that one should replace another in every build.

What should I keep in mind?

Blazing Steel is restricted to Archmelee equipment by its listed type and compatibility. Do not mistake the Heat bonus for a Status Chance bonus: the supplied description lists Heat only. The supplied drop list names several Archwing enemies and missions, but those entries do not guarantee current availability.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • Higher ranks increase Heat, while the example rank 4 to 5 step costs 320 Endo and 15,456 Credits.
  • Searing Steel pairs Heat with Status Chance, while Blazing Steel focuses on a larger maximum Heat bonus.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Assuming Blazing Steel adds Status Chance.
  • Treating +120% Heat as final weapon damage.
  • Equipping it on a non-Archmelee weapon.
