Understand Astral Slash
Useful when…
- Add Slash damage to a compatible Archmelee weapon.
- Compare a Slash-focused choice with elemental damage or critical damage options for the weapon.
Effect and compatibility
At maximum rank, this standard Archmelee mod adds +90% Slash. The bonus is to the Slash damage type; it is not a stated +90% total-damage bonus and does not itself increase status chance. The listed slot type is standard, and its compatibility is Archmelee.
Ranks and capacity
Astral Slash has six ranks, from 0 to 5, with base drain 2 and Naramon polarity. It provides +15% Slash at rank 0, +60% at rank 3, and +90% at rank 5. The listed fusion examples show increasing costs at higher ranks: rank 0→1 costs 30 Endo and 1,449 Credits, while rank 4→5 costs 480 Endo and 23,184 Credits. Raising it trades more capacity for a larger Slash bonus.
Choosing a damage direction
Blazing Steel adds Heat rather than Slash, while Bleeding Edge adds critical damage. Those effects serve different build goals, so compare them against the weapon’s existing damage profile and the capacity available. Astral Autopsy has a utility effect: fatal strikes perform a Codex Scan only if a Codex Scanner is equipped and has a charge; it does not provide a damage bonus.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The mod increases only the Slash damage type; it does not list status chance or another damage-type bonus.
- Higher ranks increase both the listed bonus and fusion investment.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating +90% Slash as +90% total damage or as a status-chance increase.
- Equipping Astral Autopsy without a Codex Scanner charge and expecting its scan effect to work.
