Understand Blending Talons
Useful when…
- Change Seeking Talons to a tap-triggered area effect around Garuda.
- Increase Garuda’s Talons combo count chance when striking targets affected by Slash Status.
What does the augment change?
Blending Talons is a standard Garuda augment for Seeking Talons. Its description says tapping performs an area effect around Garuda, while Garuda’s Talons gain additional Combo Count Chance when hitting targets affected by Slash Status. At rank 3 the area is 9m and the additional chance is 100%.
What changes with rank?
Rank 0 lists a 6m area and 25% additional Combo Count Chance; rank 2 lists 8m and 75%; rank 3 lists 9m and 100%. The mod has maximum rank 3, base drain 6, and Zenurik polarity. Example fusion costs are 30 Endo and 1,449 Credits from rank 0 to 1, 60 Endo and 2,898 Credits from rank 1 to 2, and 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits from rank 2 to 3. Rank investment increases both listed values, so weigh the final step against capacity and resources.
When is the combo bonus active?
The extra Combo Count Chance is stated for Garuda’s Talons hitting targets affected by Slash Status. Do not assume the bonus applies to every hit regardless of target condition, or that the augment itself guarantees that enemies have Slash Status. The tap-to-area effect is separately described as a Seeking Talons change.
How do other Garuda augments differ?
Blood Forge modifies Bloodletting, allowing Garuda’s equipped weapon to be reloaded up to 100%. Dread Ward modifies Dread Mirror and grants 8 seconds of invulnerability when that ability kills a target by ripping its life force. These effects depend on different abilities and triggers, so they do not duplicate Blending Talons’ Seeking Talons area and conditional Talons combo bonus.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Its Talons combo bonus requires hitting targets affected by Slash Status.
- The area and additional combo chance rise with rank, with Endo and Credit costs on each fusion step.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the combo bonus applies to targets without Slash Status.
- Confusing the Seeking Talons tap effect with the conditional Talons hit bonus.
- Assuming the augment’s area is larger than the rank-specific 6m, 8m, or 9m values.
