Understand Dread Ward
Useful when…
- Use on Garuda when Dread Mirror can finish targets with its life-force-ripping kill.
- Consider it for timed survivability that depends on triggering the augment’s kill condition.
What triggers the effect?
The invulnerability applies only when Dread Mirror kills a target by ripping its life force. A Dread Mirror hit or a kill from another source is not the stated trigger. At rank 0 the effect lasts 4 seconds, rank 2 lasts 6 seconds, and rank 3 lasts 8 seconds.
Garuda fit and slot
This is a standard Garuda augment with Zenurik polarity, standard slot type, base drain 6, and maximum rank 3. Its benefit is conditional survival rather than a general damage increase, so its value depends on whether the relevant Dread Mirror kills occur in the situations where you need protection.
Rank investment
Ranking increases the duration of the invulnerability window, reaching 8 seconds at rank 3. The listed rank 2-to-3 fusion step costs 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits. Invest further when the extra seconds matter to your use of the kill-triggered protection.
How it differs from other Garuda augments
Blending Talons modifies Seeking Talons and gives Garuda’s Talons additional Combo Count Chance against targets affected by Slash. Blood Forge instead reloads Garuda’s equipped weapon up to 100%. These effects do not provide Dread Ward’s stated invulnerability trigger; they serve different ability or weapon needs.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Invulnerability requires a specific Dread Mirror kill, so it is not dependable from hits alone.
- The augment uses a mod slot for a conditional survival effect.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming any Dread Mirror kill triggers the effect regardless of how the target dies.
- Treating the invulnerability as permanent or as protection triggered by a hit.
