Understand Chaos Sphere
Useful when…
- Apply Chaos to enemies that enter the effect range after the ability is cast.
- Use higher ranks for a longer-lasting effect range.
Effect and scaling
The augment’s range persists for 25% of the ability duration at rank 0, 40% at rank 2, and 50% at rank 3. Enemies entering that range are inflicted with Chaos, and the range shrinks over time. No distance or shrink rate is specified, so the listed percentages describe duration, not a fixed radius.
Fit and investment
Chaos Sphere is a Rare Nyx augment for a standard slot, with Zenurik polarity, base drain 6, and maximum rank 3. Its relevant rank gain is the fraction of ability duration for which the effect range persists. Mod fusion costs increase at later ranks; ranking toward 3 is useful when a longer window for entering enemies is important to your intended coverage.
Compare by ability role
Pacifying Bolts adds force bolts with Radiation status and confuses struck enemies. Assimilate changes Absorb so Nyx can use weapons and has infinite duration, while consuming Energy per second and halving its area. Singularity is a Conclave Absorb augment that pulls enemies. These descriptions concern different abilities and effects, not substitutes for Chaos Sphere’s entry-triggered Chaos.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The effect range shrinks over time, limiting the window in which entering enemies are affected.
- Higher ranks lengthen that window but require more fusion resources.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the listed percentage as effect radius or assuming the range stays constant; it is a duration fraction and the range shrinks over time.
