Understand Chilling Claws
Useful when…
- Add Cold damage and Status Chance to compatible claws.
- Concentrate the claws’ existing elemental damage as Cold.
What does it do?
At maximum rank, Chilling Claws provides +330% Cold and +330% Status Chance, and converts all elemental damage from the claws to Cold. At rank 0, both bonuses are +30%; the conversion applies at every listed rank.
Compatibility and tradeoffs
It is a standard, Madurai polarity mod for claws, with a base drain of 4 and a maximum rank of 10. Because it converts all elemental damage on the claws to Cold, it is not compatible with the other named conversion mods: Burning Claws, Sepsis Claws, and Shocking Claws. Those alternatives instead convert the claws’ elemental damage to Heat, Toxin, or Electricity, respectively; choose a conversion based on the element you want rather than expecting to combine them.
How far should you rank it?
Fusion raises both bonuses from +30% at rank 0 to +330% at rank 10, while the conversion effect stays the same. Higher ranks cost progressively more; the listed step from rank 9 to 10 costs 15,360 Endo and 741,888 Credits. A lower rank can preserve resources when you chiefly want the conversion and can accept smaller Cold and Status Chance bonuses.
Common mistake
Do not treat the listed +330% as the claws’ final damage, or expect the mod to preserve mixed elemental damage: the bonus is a mod effect, and all elemental damage on the claws is converted to Cold.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Converts all elemental damage on the claws to Cold, preventing use of another named elemental conversion mod.
- Maximum rank requires substantial Endo and Credits for larger bonuses.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting other elemental damage to remain after equipping the conversion mod.
- Trying to equip it alongside Burning Claws, Sepsis Claws, or Shocking Claws.
