Understand Depleted Reload
Useful when…
- Trade magazine capacity for faster reloads on a sniper rifle.
What changes?
At maximum rank, Depleted Reload gives +48% Reload Speed and -60% Magazine Capacity. At rank 0, the values are +8% and -10%; rank 3 gives +32% and -40%. Both effects grow together, so investing in the reload bonus also deepens the magazine penalty.
When is the tradeoff sensible?
It suits a setup where time spent reloading is a concern and the reduced magazine is manageable. It does not increase damage. Aero Agility instead grants reload speed while aim gliding; Emergent Aftermath grants a temporary reload-speed bonus after a kill and is a Conclave mod; Charged Chamber increases damage on the first shot in a magazine. These alternatives rely on different conditions or improve a different stat.
Slot, rank costs, and source
This standard Sniper mod has Naramon polarity, a standard slot, base drain 2, and maximum rank 5. The listed examples show costs rising from 30 Endo and 1,449 Credits for the first step to 480 Endo and 23,184 Credits for the final step. Because each rank worsens the magazine penalty as it improves reload speed, stop at a rank that fits your weapon's capacity needs. The listed drop source is a Derelict Vault, with a 4.17% chance.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Faster reloads come with a substantial magazine-capacity reduction.
- Maximum-rank fusion is comparatively costly among the listed rank steps.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Ranking it without accounting for the simultaneous reduction in magazine capacity.
- Treating its reload bonus as a damage increase.
