Understand Desiccation's Curse
Useful when…
- Add Swarm Kavats through Finisher kills on blinded enemies.
- Spread Scarab Swarm through the summoned Kavats.
Trigger and effect
The trigger requires all three conditions: the enemy is blinded, Inaros kills it with a Finisher, and the augment's chance succeeds. The resulting Swarm Kavat spreads Scarab Swarm. The augment also raises the maximum number of Swarm Kavats by 2.
How rank changes the chance
The chance to summon a Kavat is 35% at rank 0, 70% at rank 2, and 100% at rank 3. The increased maximum of +2 Kavats is listed alongside the effect at each rank. Rank matters for reliability, but it does not remove the requirement for a Finisher kill on a blinded target.
Slot and alternatives
This is a standard-slot, Zenurik-polarity Inaros mod with base drain 6 and maximum rank 3. It modifies Desiccation. Negation Swarm instead modifies Scarab Shell to provide a fatal-damage response, while Elemental Sandstorm changes Sandstorm range and status application based on equipped melee damage types. Choose among these based on the ability and condition you want to change; their effects are distinct.
Investment
The listed fusion costs are 30, 60, and 120 Endo for successive rank steps, with 1,449, 2,898, and 5,796 Credits. Higher ranks make the summon chance more reliable, so investment is most relevant if the Finisher trigger is part of your intended use. No acquisition location is specified here.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The summon depends on blinding and killing the target with a Finisher.
- Rank increases summon reliability but does not change the trigger conditions.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming any kill on a blinded enemy triggers the summon; the kill must be a Finisher.
- Expecting the stated 100% chance at rank 3 to bypass the trigger conditions.
