Understand Elemental Sandstorm
Useful when…
- Extend Sandstorm's ability range.
- Use Sandstorm to inflict status effects associated with the equipped melee weapon's damage types.
What the augment changes
At maximum rank, Elemental Sandstorm grants +50% Ability Range and a 100% chance to inflict status effects based on the damage types on the equipped melee weapon. Rank 0 grants +20% range and a 25% chance; rank 2 grants +40% range and a 75% chance. The listed effect ties the status types to the equipped melee weapon, so that weapon's damage types matter when choosing this augment.
Rank and slot considerations
This standard Inaros mod has Zenurik polarity, base drain 6, and a three-rank fusion track. The example cost for rank 2 to 3 is 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits. That final rank raises range by 10 percentage points and status chance by 25 percentage points over rank 2. It occupies a mod slot, so weigh those gains against other Inaros mods you want to equip.
Other Inaros augment roles
Desiccation's Curse is tied to Desiccation: a finisher kill on a blinded enemy summons a Swarm Kavat that spreads Scarab Swarm, and it raises the maximum number of Swarm Kavats by two. Negation Swarm is tied to Scarab Shell and provides a fatal-damage response with a 30-second cooldown. These augment different abilities and do not provide Elemental Sandstorm's range and melee-linked status effect.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The augment uses a mod slot and has base drain 6.
- Its status effects depend on the damage types of the equipped melee weapon.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting the status types to be independent of the equipped melee weapon.
- Assuming another Inaros augment provides the same Sandstorm effects.
