Understand Castanas
Useful when…
- Placing a thrown charge and choosing when to detonate it.
- Using a thrown weapon with listed Electricity damage and two detonation profiles.
Detonation profiles
Mid-Flight Detonation is listed as a projectile attack, while Embedded Detonation is listed as AoE. Each profile lists 160 Electricity damage, 8% critical chance, a 1.5× critical multiplier, and 22% status chance. Both list falloff from 0 to 3.6 meters with a 40% reduction.
Capacity and handling
Castanas has a two-round magazine, a one-second reload, an Active trigger, and a listed projectile speed of 60. It requires Mastery Rank 3 and has two Madurai polarities. The falloff interval and small magazine are relevant to placement and repeated use.
Other thrown weapon behaviors
Aegrit is also described as remotely detonated. Cantare’s blades return on reload and can grant allies reload speed when they hit enemies; Fusilai is described as silent glass throwing knives. These are distinct behaviors, and the descriptions do not establish direct upgrades to Castanas.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The two-round magazine limits how many charges can be placed before reloading.
- Both detonation profiles list falloff from 0 to 3.6 meters with a 40% reduction.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not assume full listed damage at every distance; both profiles list falloff.
- Do not overlook the two-round magazine when considering repeated placement.
