Understand Coda Sporothrix
Useful when…
- Use the accurate projectile shot for deliberate long-range targeting.
- Use its small area burst when enemies are clustered near the hit location.
- Consider it when a slower firing pace and high listed status chance fit the encounter.
What happens on a hit?
The normal attack fires a projectile at 1.83 shots per second, listing 101.52 Impact, 116.56 Puncture, and 157.92 Slash damage, with 5% critical chance, a 3× critical multiplier, and 55% status chance. The description says the barb continues damaging its victim before exploding. A separate AoE entry lists 25 Slash and 23 Viral damage, with the same listed critical and status values; its radial falloff spans 0 to 2 meters, with 10% reduction at the endpoint.
How does it handle at range?
The rifle has a semi-automatic trigger, 11-round magazine, 2.5-second reload, 100 accuracy, and a listed projectile speed of 270. Its normal attack lists falloff beginning at 400 meters and ending at 600 meters, with a 50% reduction at the end; within that unusually long listed interval, the weapon is designed around ranged use. It requires Mastery Rank 17 and has a rank cap of 40. One Vazarin polarity is listed.
What investment tradeoffs matter?
The listed 55% status chance and 5% critical chance suggest evaluating status-focused options before assuming a critical-centered approach; the 3× multiplier does not by itself offset the low chance. The data provides no weapon-specific upgrade track or build prescription. The original Sporothrix description mentions scoped headshots increasing lethality, while Coda Sporothrix’s supplied description emphasizes increased damage, reload speed, magazine size, status chance, and explosion radius. Do not assume the original’s scoped-headshot behavior applies to Coda unless independently established.
How does it differ from other snipers?
Vadarya Prime’s comparison description emphasizes chain lightning between nearby enemies, while Komorex offers zoom-dependent punch through or a bursting Viral round and built-in ammo conversion. Those are different stated features from Sporothrix’s delayed barb and small radial attack. They are useful points of comparison when choosing a sniper’s handling or target coverage, not evidence that one is universally better.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Very low listed critical chance despite a 3× critical multiplier.
- Projectile-based and semi-automatic, favoring careful aim over rapid fire.
- The AoE covers a small radius and has its own damage and falloff.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the AoE has the full damage of the projectile hit.
- Treating the 3× critical multiplier as evidence of a frequent critical hit.
- Applying the original Sporothrix’s scoped-headshot description to Coda Sporothrix without support.
