Understand Coda Tysis
Useful when…
- Apply status effects with repeated accurate shots.
- Use its innate Corrosive damage as part of a secondary weapon setup.
How it handles
The Tysis fires one projectile per trigger pull at 2.5 shots per second, with 100 listed accuracy and a projectile speed of 75. Each normal hit has 50% status chance and 13% critical chance with a 2× critical multiplier. The listed 135 damage comprises 59 Corrosive plus Impact, Puncture, and Slash components; the separately listed Corrosive DoT is an attack mode and should not be conflated with the projectile hit.
Practical setup
Its 18-round magazine and 1.2-second reload make it practical for controlled firing without a long reload pause. The weapon has one Vazarin polarity, a rank cap of 40, and a Mastery requirement of 17. Consider status-focused upgrades if you want to build around its 50% status chance; critical upgrades have a lower starting chance to work from.
Limitations and alternatives
It is semi-automatic, so sustained fire requires repeated trigger pulls. Bronco Prime is another secondary with a lower Mastery requirement, while Coda Pox is a thrown weapon with different handling; neither is a direct handling match. Cyanex instead offers automatic homing projectiles and an alternate burst, so consider it when those behaviors matter more than precise semi-automatic shots.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- High status chance and innate Corrosive damage, but modest critical chance.
- Projectile travel requires leading moving targets; the trigger is semi-automatic.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the listed Corrosive DoT as part of the normal projectile hit.
- Assuming the projectile lands immediately like a hitscan shot.
