Understand Dante
Useful when…
- Granting allies Overguard and restoring health with Light Verse, then using Triumph for additional Overguard and health support.
- Attacking groups with Dark Verse and Tragedy, which combines damage over time from Slash, Heat, and Toxin status effects into one blast.
- Supporting allies with Noctua copies through Wordwarden or drawing attacks away with Pageflight.
- Scanning targets with Noctua for Codex information and increased Status Chance against fully scanned targets.
How do the Verse combinations work?
Noctua opens Dante's Exalted Tome. Light Verse grants Dante and allies Overguard and restores their health; Dark Verse draws blood from nearby enemies with Slash damage. Final Verse requires two other Verses first. Two Light Verses in succession produce Triumph: it increases allies' health, grants Overguard, and briefly regenerates Overguard from kills and assists. Two Dark Verses produce Tragedy, which attacks enemies and accumulates damage over time from Slash, Heat, and Toxin status effects into one blast. Light followed by Dark produces Wordwarden, giving allies copies of Noctua that synchronize attacks with their designated ally. Dark followed by Light produces Pageflight, summoning Paragrimms that make enemies vulnerable to Status Chance and Status Damage while drawing their attacks away from allies.
Which sequence serves which need?
Choose the two-Light sequence for ally health and Overguard support, the two-Dark sequence for an attack that gathers specified status damage into one blast, Light then Dark for ally-linked Noctua attacks, or Dark then Light for Paragrimms' status vulnerability and distraction. Since Final Verse requires two prior Verses, the order is a functional choice rather than interchangeable casting: changing the order changes the result. Noctua also scans targets for Codex information; fully scanned targets are subject to increased Status Chance, though the amount is unresolved.
What are his build considerations?
Dante lists 300 health, 150 shields, 145 armor, and 200 power, with Madurai and Naramon polarities. His passive increases Status Chance on fully scanned targets, but the numerical bonus is unresolved.
How does he differ from other support candidates?
Citrine's supplied description emphasizes crystalline ally support, while Caliban and Caliban Prime are described in terms of crowd control, survivability, or their Prime identity. Those summaries do not establish Dante's selectable Verse outcomes, Overguard and health effects, ally-synchronized tome copies, or Pageflight distraction. They may fill other roles, but the evidence does not make them direct replacements.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Final Verse requires two preceding Verse casts, and sequence order determines its effect.
- The numeric passive Status Chance increase is unresolved.
- The described support and damage modes have distinct sequences, so one cast order does not provide all listed outcomes at once.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming Final Verse can be cast without composing two Verses first.
- Mixing up Light-then-Dark Wordwarden with Dark-then-Light Pageflight.
- Expecting the two-Light Triumph and two-Dark Tragedy outcomes from the same pair of Verses.
- Claiming a numeric Status Chance passive bonus from unresolved data.
