Understand Dragon Nikana
Useful when…
- Use normal strikes for Slash-heavy melee damage with equal listed critical and status chances.
- Use slam attacks for their distinct Impact or Blast area damage.
- Fit compatible mods to its Madurai and Vazarin polarities.
What is its normal attack profile?
Normal attacks deal 159.8 Slash, 18.8 Puncture, and 9.4 Impact damage. They have 22% critical chance, a 2× multiplier, and 22% status chance. Listed speed is 1, range is 2.5, follow-through is 0.7, and heavy-attack wind-up is 0.5 seconds.
How do slam modes differ?
The slam is an area attack dealing 376 Impact, with falloff from 0 to 6 meters and 50% reduction at the end. Heavy slam deals 564 Blast, with falloff from 0 to 7 meters and 30% reduction at the end. Both modes list 10% status chance, below the normal attack’s 22%.
What should guide mod investment?
Dragon Nikana has one Madurai and one Vazarin polarity. Its critical chance and status chance are both 22%, so a mixed setup is supported by the starting profile. The listed polarity slots can help when choosing compatible mods, but they do not determine a final build by themselves.
How does it compare with other weapons?
Skiajati is another Nikana, but it requires mastery rank 11 and its comparison entry lists 19% critical chance and a 2.1× multiplier. Galatine Prime is a heavy blade, while Cerata is a glaive; those alternatives have different weapon handling and should be considered when you want those types rather than as direct Nikana substitutes.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Normal attacks are overwhelmingly Slash, with comparatively little Impact and Puncture.
- Slam modes change damage type and have a separate 10% status chance.
- Its close-range 2.5 reach makes it a melee engagement weapon.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the slam attacks use the normal Slash-heavy damage split.
- Carrying the normal attack’s 22% status chance over to the slam modes.
- Treating a heavy blade or glaive as a direct Nikana handling substitute.
