Understand Exergis
Useful when…
- Placing individual shots against targets within its listed falloff range
- Building around its listed 36% status chance and mixed damage profile
What does a shot do?
The single Normal Attack is a projectile with a listed speed of 3.33 shots per second, 8% critical chance, a 1.4× critical multiplier, and 36% status chance. It deals Impact, Slash, Puncture, and Radiation damage. Its listed falloff begins at 30 and ends at 60, with 0.508 reduction. The shotgun has three multishot listed in its overall properties, a one-round magazine, and a 1.6-second reload. Because it is a projectile, the listed attack is not hit-scan; aim and target movement affect whether the shot connects.
What does its handling demand?
With a single round in the magazine, every shot is followed by the need to reload, so missed shots carry a clear tempo cost. A Vazarin polarity is listed; matching a mod's polarity to a slot can reduce its capacity cost, while the listed polarity alone does not prescribe which mods to use.
How do other shotguns differ?
Arca Plasmor is described as firing blasts that stagger targets, with surviving enemies consumed with Radiation. Coda Bassocyst has an alternate fire that can swarm enemies with mites or perform a ranged execution on enemies vulnerable to Mercy Kills. Corinth offers a shotgun blast and a separate explosive round that knocks down nearby enemies. Those descriptions identify distinct utility and attack styles; they do not establish that any is a direct upgrade for a player who specifically wants Exergis's single-round projectile attack.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- One-round magazine and 1.6-second reload interrupt sustained fire.
- Projectile travel requires leading moving targets.
- Listed critical chance is low compared with its 36% status chance.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not expect sustained fire from a one-round magazine; account for the reload after each shot.
- Do not treat projectile shots as hit-scan when aiming at moving targets.
