Understand Lavos Prime
Useful when…
- Imbue ability casts with Toxin, Cold, Electricity, or Heat.
- Shock enemies with Transmutation Probe to reduce other ability cooldowns.
- Apply Catalyze after enemies have accumulated multiple elemental effects.
Ability effects
Lavos Prime’s ability descriptions specify the same element controls and conditions as Lavos. Ophidian Bite strikes and heals on tap, while holding imbues all abilities with Toxin. Vial Rush dashes through foes, leaving an icy trail; holding it imbues the next cast with Cold. Transmutation Probe converts Health and Energy Orbs to Universal Orbs that provide both, converts ammo to Universal Ammo, and shocks nearby foes. Each electrocuted enemy cuts other ability cooldowns by 1.5 seconds; holding it imbues the next cast with Electricity. Catalyze deals damage doubled for each element affecting an enemy; holding imbues the next cast with Heat. Energy and Universal Orbs grant status immunity for an unspecified duration.
Use and build considerations
Lavos Prime’s listed baseline is 600 Health, 310 Shields, 575 Armor, and 0 Power. Use the hold inputs deliberately: the descriptions distinguish Toxin for all abilities from the other elements for the next cast. Catalyze’s stated doubling condition means the number of elements on each enemy matters. Probe’s cooldown reduction requires electrocuted enemies. His starting polarities are Vazarin and two Naramon, with a Naramon Aura polarity. Treat those as slot-planning information rather than a fixed build prescription.
Comparison with Lavos
Regular Lavos lists 540 Health and 270 Shields, with the same 575 Armor and the same 0 Power as Lavos Prime. Prime lists 600 Health, 310 Shields, and an additional Naramon polarity compared with regular Lavos’s Vazarin and Naramon polarities. The ability text is the same in both entries. These are concrete stat and slot differences, but whether they justify a change depends on your build and access.
Other frames
Caliban Prime’s description emphasizes crowd control and survivability, while Chroma’s emphasizes elemental damage and survivability. Those descriptions do not establish Lavos Prime’s cooldown, orb, or imbuement mechanics for either alternative. Consider them for their stated roles rather than assuming they duplicate his kit.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Catalyze’s stated damage condition rewards enemies affected by multiple elements.
- Cooldown reduction from Transmutation Probe depends on electrocution.
- Prime differences are listed stats and polarities; ability descriptions match regular Lavos.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the Prime has different ability behavior from the listed regular Lavos abilities.
- Treating every element hold as applying to all abilities.
- Expecting cooldown reduction without Transmutation Probe electrocuting enemies.
