Understand Chroma
Useful when…
- Choosing an elemental alignment for the full ability kit
- Using Elemental Ward for an area effect and nearby ally defense
- Triggering Vex Armor’s squad Armor or Weapon Damage effects
How do the elements affect his kit?
Spectral Scream lets Chroma cycle among Heat, Electricity, Toxin, and Cold, then exhale elemental destruction. The chosen element applies to all his abilities. Elemental Ward creates an offensive area effect based on that alignment and gives Chroma and nearby allies defensive energy. Effigy turns his pelt into a sentry that strengthens nearby allies and attacks enemies with elemental effects.
What triggers Vex Armor?
Vex Armor strengthens squad Armor when Chroma’s Shields are damaged or when he kills an enemy with a melee weapon. It increases squad Weapon Damage when he loses Health or kills an enemy with a ranged weapon. Weak-point kills double the effect; the supplied description does not specify which Vex Armor effect is doubled.
How do his stats compare with Chroma Prime?
Chroma lists 270 Health, 270 Shield, and 370 Armor. Chroma Prime lists the same Health and Shield, 450 Armor, and altered mod polarities for greater customization. Chroma’s passive grants an additional jump and bullet jump.
Conditions to keep in mind
Vex Armor’s squad Armor and Weapon Damage effects have separate listed triggers. The selected element applies to every ability, so choosing an alignment affects the full kit. The ability descriptions provide no numeric effect values.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Vex Armor’s two squad effects have different triggers.
- The selected element applies to all abilities.
- Numeric ability effects are not specified.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming one Vex Armor trigger grants both squad effects.
- Forgetting that the selected element applies to every ability.
- Assuming the description identifies which Vex Armor effect weak-point kills double.
