Understand Onos
Useful when…
- Use the normal attack when a Puncture projectile suits your needs.
- In Incarnon form, build power through held damage and use the separate charged Heat and radial attacks.
Normal attack
The normal attack is a projectile with listed speed and flight values of 100. It deals 220 Puncture damage per attack and fires at 1.4 attacks per second, with 26% critical chance, a 2.4× critical multiplier, and 22% status chance. The magazine holds 20 rounds and reloads in 2 seconds.
Incarnon attacks
The Incarnon Form Held Damage attack is a projectile dealing 30 Radiation, with 14% critical chance and 18% status chance. The Incarnon Form Charge Attack is hitscan and lists 2,200 Heat damage, 38% critical chance, a 3.2× critical multiplier, and 26% status chance. Its separate radial attack is AoE, listing 1,100 Heat damage with falloff from 0 to 3 and a 30% falloff reduction. The description says power increases steadily before the Heat blast at full power, but gives no numeric threshold or conversion formula.
Requirements and alternatives
Onos has a Mastery requirement of 14, a listed Madurai polarity, and construction costs of 20,000 credits with a 12-hour build time. The Tenet Plinx pulls enemies together before an explosive alternate-fire shot; Atomos is described as a condensed plasma beam; Azima can fire its magazine as a spinning device that shoots lasers at nearby enemies. These are different attack patterns from Onos's staged Incarnon behavior.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The normal attack fires at 1.4 attacks per second, while the Incarnon description calls for building power before its full-power Heat blast.
- The Incarnon attacks have separate damage types, delivery, and critical and status values; the radial attack also has listed falloff.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Applying the 2,200 Heat charge attack value to the normal Puncture projectile.
- Treating the radial attack's 1,100 Heat damage as identical to the hitscan charge attack, or overlooking its falloff.
