Understand Sarpa
Useful when…
- Switching between close-range normal strikes and the ranged attack.
- Using the ranged mode’s 28% status chance for status-oriented applications.
- Using regular or Heavy Slams for separate area attacks.
Attack modes
Normal attacks deal 160 listed physical damage—112 Slash, 32 Puncture, and 16 Impact—at 1 attack per second, with 14% critical chance, 2× critical multiplier, and 28% status chance. The ranged mode is separate: after a 0.3 s charge it fires hit-scan shots at a listed 3.33 rate, with the same critical and status chances. Its listed shot damage is 35 total across Impact, Slash, and Puncture; falloff begins at 20 m and reaches 85.71% reduction at 40 m. Regular Slam deals 320 Impact in an area, and Heavy Slam deals 480 Blast; each has 10% status chance, with listed falloff reaching 50% at 5 m and 30% at 6 m, respectively.
Practical use and handling
The ranged mode gives Sarpa an attack option beyond its 2 m melee range, but its damage falls off substantially beyond 20 m. Its 0.3 s wind-up describes the listed heavy-attack wind-up, while the ranged mode separately lists a 0.3 s charge time. Keep those properties distinct when judging how quickly each action can be used. One Vazarin polarity is listed for mod matching.
Alternatives with different ranged mechanics
Argo & Vel’s heavy attack sends a glaive that ricochets off enemies, while Arum Spinosa’s heavy attack launches a flurry of toxic spines at ranged attackers. Caustacyst instead sends an acid wave on heavy attacks and leaves corrosive sludge. Their descriptions identify different projectile or special-attack behavior; none is established here as a direct equivalent to Sarpa’s repeated hit-scan fire.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The ranged shots have a 0.3 s charge and severe falloff beyond 20 m.
- Normal and ranged attacks have a listed 14% critical chance.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not treat the ranged shot as unlimited full-strength damage; the listed falloff starts at 20 m.
- Do not merge ranged-attack stats with melee or slam attack values; their damage modes and status chances differ.
