Understand Argo & Vel
Useful when…
- Use normal attacks for Slash-heavy close combat.
- Use the heavy attack glaive for a projectile with listed travel and a separate area component.
- Use regular and heavy slams as separate area Slash attacks, with falloff.
Normal attacks and heavy glaive
Normal attacks list 300 damage: 240 Slash and 60 Impact, at 0.8 attacks per second, with 32% critical chance, a 2.4× multiplier, and 24% status chance. Its heavy attack is a projectile glaive with listed speed and flight values of 75; the description says it ricochets off enemies. The projectile entry lists 200 damage (40 Impact and 160 Slash), and a separate area entry lists 100 damage (20 Impact and 80 Slash), with falloff out to 3 m. These are distinct components of the heavy-attack listing and should not be merged into normal-attack damage.
Slams and handling
Regular slams are an area Slash attack listed at 600 damage with falloff out to 7 m; heavy slams are area Slash listed at 900, also out to 7 m. Each slam mode lists 10% status chance. The weapon lists 2.5 m range, 0.6 follow-through, one-second heavy-attack wind-up, five-second combo duration, and a 70° blocking angle. Its three listed polarities are two Madurai and one Vazarin; these can inform fitting without implying a prescribed build.
What it is not
Vitrica is a heavy blade with aim-glide glassing and shockwave interactions, not a sword-and-shield glaive attack. Caustacyst uses heavy attacks for acid waves and sludge, while Kestrel is a throwing glaive described as knocking down enemies at range. Those alternatives have different named mechanics; none should be assumed to share Argo & Vel's ricocheting heavy attack.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The normal attack rate is 0.8 per second and heavy-attack wind-up is one second.
- Its heavy attack has distinct projectile and area entries; do not read either as the normal swing's damage.
- Slam damage falls off across the area.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not mistake the heavy attack projectile for a standard thrown glaive weapon; it is the listed heavy-attack mode of this sword and shield.
- Do not combine the glaive projectile and area figures as normal-attack damage.
- Do not assume the comparison weapons share Argo & Vel's ricochet behavior.
