Understand Shade
Useful when…
- Using Ghost for a cloak when enemies approach within its range.
- Using Revenge to restrict Sentinel attacks to enemies that have attacked you within range.
Stealth effects and conditions
Ghost cloaks its owner when enemies are within range: 14 m at rank 0 and 24 m at rank 5. Attacking disrupts the cloak. Revenge restricts the Sentinel from attacking an enemy unless that enemy has attacked its master within range; that distance is 5.8 m at rank 0 and 10 m at rank 5. Equip the relevant Precepts to use these effects.
Practical use and compatible equipment
Ghost supports concealment while enemies are nearby, but attacking ends the cloak, so it does not preserve invisibility through attacks. Revenge makes the Sentinel’s attacks conditional on an enemy first attacking you within the stated distance. Shade also comes with a burst laser pistol. Ambush is another compatible Precept: when Ghost invisibility is broken, it grants the owner a weapon damage bonus for 3 seconds, scaling from +60% at rank 0 to +240% at rank 3. Equip Ambush if that conditional follow-up matters to your play.
Stats and alternatives
Shade has 600 health, 130 shields, and 80 armor, with four listed Penjaga polarities. Shade Prime is also described as specializing in stealth and comes with Burst Laser Prime. Wyrm is described as highly offensive with Crowd Dispersion and a laser rifle, while Carrier is described with Ammo Case and a shotgun; these alternatives have different stated roles and do not make Ghost’s attack condition disappear.
Common mistakes
Do not assume Ghost stays active after you attack, or that Shade attacks enemies freely with Revenge equipped. Revenge has a range condition tied to an enemy attacking its master; its rank 5 distance is 10 m. Ambush only triggers when Ghost invisibility is broken, and its weapon damage bonus lasts 3 seconds.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Ghost’s cloak is disrupted by the owner attacking.
- Revenge restricts attacks until an enemy has attacked its master within the listed range.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming Ghost’s cloak persists while attacking.
- Expecting Revenge to let the Sentinel attack an enemy before that enemy attacks its master within range.
- Treating Ambush as unconditional rather than a Ghost-break trigger.
