Skana GUIDE

Understand Skana

Useful when…

  • Accessible close melee with a basic sword.
  • Ground slams for area Impact or Blast damage.

Normal attack

Skana's normal attack lists 120 damage: 84 Slash, 18 Impact, and 18 Puncture. It has listed speed 0.833, critical chance 5%, critical multiplier 1.5, status chance 16%, and range 2.5. It requires no mastery rank.

Slam attacks and construction

The standard slam deals 240 Impact in an area, with falloff from 0 to 7 range and 50% reduction. Heavy slam deals 360 Blast, with falloff from 0 to 8 and 30% reduction. Construction lists 1,100 Alloy Plate, 3 Morphics, 500 Plastids, 750 Salvage, and a blueprint; build time is 43,200 seconds.

Alternatives by weapon role

Lacera is a blade-and-whip candidate requiring mastery 7, while Cerata is a mastery-7 glaive; they differ from Skana's sword handling. Karyst Prime is a mastery-12 dagger with higher listed critical chance and multiplier, a more specific option if the goal is a dagger with those properties rather than an entry-level sword.

Limits

Its 5% critical chance and 1.5 multiplier are modest listed critical properties. Do not assume its slam attacks inherit the normal attack's Slash damage: the supplied modes list Impact for standard slam and Blast for heavy slam.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • No mastery requirement and simple sword handling.
  • Normal attacks are slash-weighted but have low listed critical chance.
  • Slam modes use different damage types from normal attacks.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Expecting the slam attacks to deal the normal attack's Slash damage.
  • Overinvesting in critical-focused upgrades without accounting for the listed 5% critical chance.
  • Confusing alternate weapon types with direct sword replacements.
