Understand Fatal Acceleration
Useful when…
- Improve the travel speed of shotgun projectiles when leading moving targets or engaging at longer distances.
- Use it when you want projectile speed without relying on Galvanized Acceleration’s kill-triggered stacks.
What it changes
The mod increases projectile speed: +10% at rank 0, +30% at rank 2, and +40% at rank 3. It does not list a damage increase, so treat it as a projectile-handling choice rather than a direct damage bonus.
Fit and rank investment
Fatal Acceleration is a Madurai polarity Exilus mod for shotguns, with base drain 4 and a maximum rank of 3. Its listed fusion steps cost 20, 40, then 80 Endo, and 966, 1,932, then 3,864 Credits. Rank it when the extra projectile speed matters to your use of the weapon; the provided ranks show the bonus rising to +40%.
Alternatives and limitation
Galvanized Acceleration is also an Exilus shotgun mod and adds projectile speed plus beam range; kills grant additional projectile speed and beam range for 10 seconds, stacking up to twice. Fatal Acceleration cannot be equipped with it. Accelerated Blast instead adds fire rate and Puncture in a standard slot, while Amalgam Shotgun Barrage adds fire rate and revive speed in a standard slot; neither is a projectile-speed substitute. Fatal Acceleration is listed from Leapers and Deimos Leapers, among other sources, but the supplied drop entries are not a guarantee of availability.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Uses an Exilus slot and adds handling rather than listed damage.
- Galvanized Acceleration offers beam range and kill-triggered stacking, but cannot be equipped together with Fatal Acceleration.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Trying to equip Fatal Acceleration and Galvanized Acceleration together; they are explicitly incompatible.
- Treating projectile speed as a direct damage bonus.
