Understand Glacial Edge
Useful when…
- Adding Cold damage to an Archmelee weapon
- Choosing a Vazarin-polarity Archmelee mod
Effect and fit
At maximum rank, Glacial Edge grants +120% Cold; its rank 0 effect is +20%, and rank 3 is +80%. It applies to Archmelee, occupies a standard slot, has Vazarin polarity, base drain 4, and a maximum rank of 5.
Rank investment
Its Cold bonus rises with rank. The listed upgrade examples cost 20 Endo and 966 Credits for rank 0 to 1, 80 Endo and 3,864 Credits for rank 2 to 3, and 320 Endo and 15,456 Credits for rank 4 to 5. Those final ranks cost more, so rank it according to how much capacity and investment your build can support.
Alternatives and acquisition
Cryo Coating is another Archmelee Cold option, listing +60% Cold and +60% Status Chance, while Glacial Edge lists a larger Cold bonus at maximum rank without a status bonus in its supplied effects. Astral Slash instead adds Slash, and Astral Autopsy scans enemies on fatal strikes only when a Codex Scanner is equipped with an available charge; these serve different purposes. Listed acquisition sources include several Archwing mission rotations and enemy drops.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Uses a standard slot and capacity for Cold damage; the supplied effect has no additional status bonus.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Installing it on a regular melee weapon instead of Archmelee.
- Assuming the Cold bonus also increases status chance.
