Heavy Trauma

Melee damage mod

Released Nov 20, 2013

Heavy Trauma increases a melee weapon’s Impact damage. Consider it when that damage type is useful for your weapon and build; it does not add a universal bonus to every damage type.

Understand Heavy Trauma

Useful when…

  • Increase the Impact component of a compatible melee weapon’s damage.
  • Choose a lower rank when the listed bonus is useful but the full fusion cost is not.

Effect and application

Heavy Trauma is a standard-slot melee mod with Naramon polarity. It adds +15% Impact at rank 0, +60% at rank 3, and +90% at rank 5. Those figures describe the mod’s Impact bonus, not final weapon damage.

Ranking and cost

The mod starts at 2 drain and has a maximum rank of 5. The listed rank 4-to-5 step costs 480 Endo and 23,184 Credits, increasing the bonus from the rank 3 value of +60% to +90%. Consider stopping earlier if that added Impact bonus is less valuable to your build than the fusion resources or capacity it requires.

Alternatives and exclusions

Flawed Heavy Trauma reaches +60% Impact at rank 3 with base drain 2, while Primed Heavy Trauma reaches +165% at rank 10. Heavy Trauma cannot be equipped alongside either. Amalgam Organ Shatter instead lists critical damage and heavy-attack wind-up speed, so it addresses different stats rather than serving as another Impact bonus.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • The bonus is specifically to Impact damage.
  • The final rank step has substantial listed Endo and Credit costs.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Reading +90% Impact as a final damage multiplier for every attack component.
  • Equipping it together with Flawed or Primed Heavy Trauma despite their listed incompatibility.
