Ion Burn GUIDE

Understand Ion Burn

Useful when…

  • Increase Railjack boost speed during piloting.
  • Use as a Plexus mod when boost speed is more useful than another ship improvement.

What the bonus covers

Ion Burn adds +7.5% Railjack Boost Speed at rank 0, +30% at rank 3, and +45% at rank 5. It is a Common Plexus mod with Vazarin polarity, maximum rank 5, and base drain 4.

Distinguish other speed effects

Conic Nozzle lists a Railjack Speed bonus, while Cruising Speed lists a Railjack Speed bonus only when no enemies are within 3,000 metres. Ordnance Velocity affects ordnance projectile speed. These descriptions cover different conditions or targets; they are not the same boost-speed effect as Ion Burn.

Rank investment

Listed fusion costs are 10 Endo and 483 Credits from rank 0 to 1, 40 Endo and 1,932 Credits from rank 2 to 3, and 160 Endo and 7,728 Credits from rank 4 to 5. The listed drop sources include several Railjack enemy types; listed chances differ by enemy and do not guarantee a drop. Prioritize ranks if the full boost-speed bonus matters to your piloting.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • Uses Plexus capacity and a mod slot for boost speed.
  • Its stated bonus is specifically boost speed, not general Railjack speed or ordnance speed.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Reading the boost-speed bonus as a bonus to all Railjack speed.
  • Confusing ship speed with ordnance projectile speed.
